On the morning of 26th May, a bunch of us decided to meet up in this mall... Gathered with our 3 cars ready to make a trip towards some unknown area to us. The name of this area or route we headed towards doesn't exactly aid the nerves we have as we read on the ticket "A World Apart".
Slowly but surely our nerves starts to evolve from its' cocoon stage to become butterflies as we read more thoroughly through the program with excitement.
After some intense discussion on how cold the morning was, we jumped into our cars and headed towards the unknown south of Queensland.
The trip down took around 1 hour and 30min, lovely trip down as we got to see the natural openness of Australia! The vast grass patches spread across fields, green as your peas on your dinner plate, trees big enough to shelter us as our feet shelters ants. The view was majestic! Though with an early start to the morning, 1 hour into the trip I decided to let my eye lids a chance to see the great view as I stared at vast blankness of the back of my eyelids.
As I opened my eyes, when the car stopped, vibrant colours raced into my line of vision giving the butterflies I had a sense of home.
1st destination, we were welcomed by a very comforting smell of food as the family who owns the estate was getting ready to serve their delicious "Bush burgers"! After we indulged ourselves in the burger we went for a lovely short tour around the estate as they explained to us their own grown plants, trees, crops and fertilisers. The place was magnificent, their home-made lemon spread is fantastic with bread, a bite of their chicken kebabs and you can taste the blend of the Persian and Australian cuisine and finally their lemon leaves that leaves a trail of scent as you crush it in the palms' of your hand.
Now onto our 2nd destination...
This was an interesting one as it was a vineyard! Some of us were definitely excited to see what this place offers, possibly for them this was the dose they needed to keep them going since they missed their coffee this morning. We spent some time walking around their beautiful vineyard which was located right in front of this erected mountain, the scene made it seem like we were in a movie... And I think that is why the ladies were taking photos in the vineyard supposedly with "romantic" poses. After some roaming around like a kid in the backyard, we went for a wine tasting. I am not a big drinker of alcohol but I must admit, I thoroughly enjoyed the tasting, the atmosphere was great, people had great stories to tell and it was cold enough to have any alcohol warm me up.
From here we headed off to our 3rd destination, this was where we visited the llamas and alpacas! If you don't know what they are, Google it now and come back...
Over here at the 3rd destination, we learnt that there are distinctive differences between a llama and an alpaca. One of them that I can remember clearly is that llamas keep their tails curled up into a ball (Like those knitting wool ball things that cats play with in cartoons) whereas alpacas likes to tuck their tails up between their legs.
There wasn't too much to do here but the information they presented to us was interesting enough to keep us captivated for the next 30min, then after that they had this little sale going on which some of us were very grateful for.
As our llama vs alpaca lesson was over, we booted off to the 4th destination. In the shape of a boot, the country Italy resides in Australia for this time being as we arrived.
As we exited the car, the smell of pizza took us by surprise like CIA's in movies... We quickly rushed in to see if we can solidify the smell into something tangible in front of us but sadly there was no more pizzas as this place is so popular people of all ages come here to experience their authentic Italian cuisine. Nevertheless they were giving us free gelato where I foolish enough ate 3, it didn't take long after my feast to get the running nose.
After everyone has cleared up their gelatos it was time to head home...
It was a wrap up at 4pm and we were off!
On the way back, our car had some awesome a capella and karaoke sessions.
Definitely place to visit if you have a car and would like to get away from urban areas for the day.
Oh wait... I only mentioned 4 destinations... there is one more destination!
Well, the last destination is for you to find out :)
I do hope you will be able to check it out for yourself, here is the site for more information.
